A source for the Cheka-OGPU and Rucriminal.info reported that the party to celebrate the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces' 55th birthday at Balzi Rossi was organized by his son-in-law, Daniil Peredriy, and his daughter, Maria. That's why they were on the veranda at the time of the explosion, greeting guests and those scheduled to speak at the event.

Daniil had organized parties during his student years, including at establishments in the building on Kudrinskaya Street. So he and his wife decided to organize the event for his father-in-law themselves. One of the reasons for this was a desire to maintain complete confidentiality. No one at Balzi Rossi or the invited speakers knew who Alexander was, who was turning 55. Only those from the closest circle were invited to the party—relatives on Maria and Daniil's sides, Chaiko's closest friends (mostly those with whom he studied and served), but also prominent figures—State Duma deputies, senior officials from the FSB, and the Ministry of Defense. Security for the event was handled by FSO officers, who handle events for the President Hotel. However, a leak occurred nonetheless, and a "courier" with a bomb attempted to enter the party.

Daniil and Maria were seriously injured in the explosion. According to some reports, Daniil died.
