As revealed by VChK-OGPU and Rucriminal.info, the family of the controversial Vologda Governor Georgy Filimonov owns an estate in Rublevka—the elite Moscow suburb—registered in the name of his former student and trusted associate. A large adjacent plot of land is also held under a lease agreement. Furthermore, the Filimonovs are actively purchasing land in the Vologda region near the Ferapontov Monastery—a UNESCO World Heritage site and a major historical and cultural monument. Subsequently, local budget funds are allocated to the settlements where these lands are located. At least seven plots totaling over three hectares in the village of Ferapontovo (Kirillovsky District) are registered to the governor's father, Yuri Filimonov: 1.93 hectares right on the shore of Lake Ferapontovskoye, two more slightly to the right, and four beneath a wooden estate already built on Zaozeritsa Street, the street closest to the lake. He also owns a plot in the village of Kudryashovo—located far from major population centers in the same district and about a kilometer from the Sheksna River—where several houses are surrounded on three sides by kilometers of forest and fields.
The village of Ferapontovo is home to the famous Ferapontov Monastery, a unique Orthodox monastic complex dating from the 15th–17th centuries that preserves wall frescoes by Dionisius, a student of Andrei Rublev. The complex was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000. The Filimonovs' plots are located approximately 500 meters from the monastery, in a village that was recognized a few years ago as one of Russia's most beautiful places. In April, the governor discussed restoration work at the monastery with Metropolitan Nikandr; meanwhile, in 2025, the Ministry of Economic Development allocated subsidies for six tourism investment projects in the Vologda Region—four of which were located in the very same Kirillovsky District where his father owns land. In other words, public funds are effectively turning this land into a goldmine.
Yuri Filimonov is a Merited Coach of Russia in kickboxing, a former deputy of the Cherepovets City Duma, and a trusted representative for Putin in the 2024 presidential election. Filimonov Sr.’s political success is often attributed to the fact that he once trained alongside Sergei Kiriyenko—now the First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration—and later taught martial arts to Katerina Tikhonova. He currently heads the municipal sports school "Center for Martial Arts" in Vologda and the company "Center for Martial Arts Plus" (LLC), which he co-founded with fellow Cherepovets native Nikolai Basharkevich.
The governor’s mother, Irina Filimonova—who works as the artistic director of the Cherepovets Theater for Children and Youth—prefers real estate in the Moscow region. In August 2022, she registered a 1,460-square-meter plot of land in the Moscow-area town of Pushkino (on Dvortsovaya Street) in her own name; however, ownership was quickly transferred to Valentina Torukalo, a professor at RANEPA. Additionally, since February 2023, Filimonova has held a lease on a 7,500-square-meter forest plot in the prestigious Rublevka area—specifically in the Novodaryino neighborhood of the Odintsovo District, near Moscow. The property is located roughly one kilometer—as the crow flies—from the "Uspenskie Polyany" gated community in the village of Lapino, where the governor’s wife, Irina Filimonova (née Vinogradova), had online orders (such as a baby stroller) delivered. However, the 498-square-meter house in "Uspenskie Polyany," situated on a 1,500-square-meter plot, is not listed as the governor's family's property. In 2023, it was registered in the name of Maxim Yurakov—a former student of Filimonov whom the governor had brought along from RUDN University to the Moscow Region government. Notably, Yurakov is officially registered at an address beyond the MKAD ring road—in the Filimonkovskoye settlement of New Moscow—sharing an apartment with his parents (his mother worked at Sechenov University in the 2000s and later as a nurse at a neuropsychiatric care facility). Leaked data indicates that for several years, Yurakov also purchased airline tickets for Filimonov and his family, paying for them with his own bank card. Yurakov currently holds the position of Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts (ISIP) at RUDN University.
Nikita Danyuk—a classmate of Yurakov’s at RUDN who later became a lecturer at the same university—also purchased airline tickets for the entire Filimonov family using his own phone number and email address. Balancing his studies with the duties of a personal assistant to the Filimonovs did not hinder his career in the slightest: Danyuk is now a member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation and First Deputy Director of the Institute for Strategic Studies and Forecasts (ISIP) at RUDN University. A third classmate and associate, Kirill Dzhavlakh, ended up serving as the Minister of Regional Security for the Vologda Region under his former lecturer, Filimonov.
The Filimonovs also own two apartments in Moscow within the upscale "Blizhnyaya Dacha" residential complex on Starovolynskaya Street. The 127-square-meter apartment was purchased back in 2014, following Georgy Filimonov’s tenure at the insurance company Soglasie (part of Mikhail Prokhorov’s ONEXIM Group). Irina Filimonova (Vinogradova) would instruct couriers to call an hour in advance so she could arrange a security pass for them. Their neighbors in the building included Olga Khrupova, a deputy department head at the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, and Alexey Pavlov, deputy head of the Presidential Press and Information Directorate ...Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, the former head of Ingushetia and current Deputy Minister of Defense (three apartments in this residential complex are linked to him); Alexey Timofeev, former CEO of the Klyazma Federal State Autonomous Institution; Alexander Arsenov, head of the secretariat for State Duma First Deputy Speaker Alexander Zhukov; and the family of former Supreme Court Justice Mikhail Zadvornov. In 2021, Georgy Filimonov purchased a second apartment—measuring 75 square meters—from Zadvornov’s wife, Olga Zadvornova, in the same building but several floors up.
